Water Pollution

Water pollution is still a growing problem. Merely 5% of water is fit or safe for human consumption. Nearly 80% of water used by humans goes to agricultural purposes. Considering the limited fresh water in the world, the way we are dumping the water we use is not sustainable. We should use water conservation techniques to avoid water pollution.

Water pollution refers to the contamination of water bodies by substances and sewage. Water pollution has a significant effect on the ecology of water and is a threat to all aquatic organisms, including humans. Before the industrial revolution, water pollution was largely in the form of surface runoff resulting from the disposal of wastes by people living in and around the water. As our societies have grown, however, water pollution has increased greatly. For example, the first public water supply in the United States, in Boston, MA, was established in the early 1800s. However, this source of drinking water was in jeopardy because the city’s sewage was being dumped directly into the Charles River. As a result, the Charles River became infamous as the foulest body of water in the country, and eventually it was declared unsafe to even touch the water. In the late 1800s, the health of the Charles River area improved, and the sewage problems were resolved.

The best way to stop the water pollution is to stop throwing garbage in the surroundings. A clean surrounding and clean air will help stop water pollution. If you live in a place that has water supply, please make sure to save water. Save water in your house, avoid over watering your plants, car washing your car in the streets and avoid using water in the parts of your lawn where the grass can survive without it. Please recycle garbage and dispose it.

Water pollution causes a number of problems with our health and our environment. The most serious problems results from the accumulation of organic pollutants in our drinking water. These organic pollutants include human waste, antibiotics and other chemicals used in farming and industry, and pesticides. The most serious of these organic pollutants is Giardia lamblia , a protozoa that causes a disease called Giardiasis .

Water Pollution

Water pollution is an international and a national problem, and billions of dollars are being spent each year in a very big problem. Water pollution problems are caused by all kinds of pollution, from chemicals and bacteria to oil, radioactivity and other forms of industrial waste. Water pollution can have a major impact on the environment, human health, and the food chain. Millions of tons of raw sewage and industrial waste are dumped in our nation’s waters each year, filled with chemicals and bacteria, too toxic for any human consumption, or even to be released into the environment. That is why water pollution should be taken very seriously, or else we will pay a great price.

We must stop water pollution. Water has multiple uses that we need to make sure we have clean water for everyone. Water can be used for drinking, swimming, or irrigation. We need clean water for people and for animals. Without clean water, there will be many people who will die from thirst. People use water for animal agriculture, which is the production of meat, dairy and eggs. To have clean water, we must have clean air. We can have clean air when we stop air pollution. We can start by taking care of the air and water pollution. Also, we can restore forests that help clean our air. We work to preserve and protect water and air.
